Gluten-Free Emergency Planning

I was worried sick Wednesday night as I watched Hurricane Milton pound Florida. And I know many of you are still feeling the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

While I hope everyone weathered the storm, some of our celiac friends are still living this nightmare. A reader sent me this article about a woman with celiac disease in North Carolina. It's a reminder to us all to be prepared, food-wise, for when natural disasters strike.

Several companies make freeze-dried and dehydrated foods that have multi-year expiration dates. These are good to have in a pinch. I've researched the top brands and listed them in THIS ARTICLE.

I'm particularly fond of Good To-Go meals. Their expiration date is 5+ years, and they are perfect when you want something nourishing and safe.

What I'm Snacking on This Week

Tummydrops: I ate out on Sunday night and definitely got glutened. My tummy was grumbling, and I'm not sure if I've fully recovered.

However, I was happy to have Tummydrops in my purse to help settle my tummy, even if just for a bit. I love these ginger-flavored lozenges and highly recommend them. They were developed by a gastroenterologist and come in fun flavors like Apple Ginger and Ginger Pear.

Pumpkin Seeds: I've been on a salad kick this week, and I've loved topping my salad with these crunchy and good-for-you pumpkin seeds from Top Fox.

I appreciate that Top Fox seeds are grown and processed in the USA and that they're pop-roasted. This means they're extra crunchy and yummy! Check out all their exciting other flavors like Hot Honey and Dill Pickle.

Pizza Bites: I love a good pizza bite, and I've finally found one that is gluten-free, grain-free, and made with better-for-you ingredients, including REAL cheese.

My daughter also loves snacking on Snow Days pizza bites after school. Learn more at snowdays.com and find them at Sprouts and Whole Foods. They come in five varieties, although cheese is my fav.

New Crackers: Did you know Mary's Gone Crackers now has Cheezee-flavored crackers? These crackers are dairy-free and come in cheddar or Cheese & Herb flavors.

The bite-sized crackers are perfect for snacking or packing inside a school lunch. I even sent some with my son to take back to college. He loves snacking on them. Use the store locator at marysgonecrackers.com to find them near you.

New Gluten-Detection Dog Training Course

If you're considering a gluten-detection dog, I highly recommend enrolling in this NEW online course developed by my friends and gluten-detection dog gurus, Kari and Kendra. Kari is also a professional dog trainer and certified canine nutritionist specialist.

Use the code LAUNCH for $100 off when you enroll at CeliacServiceDogs.com. This is my affiliate link, and I wholeheartedly recommend working with these smart women.

I interviewed Kari a few years ago about what it takes to own and train a gluten-detection. Check out THIS ARTICLE.

I officially opened the Love Me Gluten Free swag shop this week. 🎉

You can purchase aprons, mesh totes, and lip balm holders - all items from previous Love Me Gluten Free boxes that you might have missed.

It's been one year and three days since Omer Shem Tov, a young Israeli man with celiac disease, was taken hostage. Omer and his family are in a lot of pain. This is HIS STORY. I will never stop talking about Omer until he's home, where he belongs.

Hello Reader, A reader recently asked me if an ingredient label has to list "gluten-free oats" vs just "oats" to be considered celiac-safe. In other words, if the ingredient label says "oats," is it safe to consume? The short answer is it doesn't have to say "gluten-free oats" on the ingredient label to be safe. However, the long answer is that you need more clues on the packaging (beyond the ingredient label) to discern if the product is safe. I have much to say about this topic, so I wrote...
