Why I No Longer Stand with Nima | NEW Products & Recipes | National 🥨 Day

Published 13 days ago • 3 min read

Hello Reader,

Today is packing day for my May 2024 Love Me Gluten Free subscription boxes.

This means anyone who ordered my May box will receive a little mailbox love next week, just in time for Celiac Disease Awareness Month. 💌

Curious what's inside my top-secret May box?

Join me on the Good For You Gluten Free Facebook page live on May 3rd at 12 pm Central.

I'll REVEAL the contents for the first time and share more details about how you can get in on the fun for June!

Even if you didn't get my May box, you're still invited to join me on Facebook Live to see the fun you're missing out on. 😜

What's Up With Nima?

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I love my Nima Sensor, a portable gluten-detecting device.

While I still believe in the device, I no longer stand behind the company.

Why?

I detail all the reasons in THIS ARTICLE, which I hope you'll read.

The gist is that the company continues to experience MAJOR supply chain issues, which it has been experiencing for years.

The company also charges $8.83 for ONE single-use test capsule. This price is unconscionable.

The bottom line is that I don't want you investing in something (because of me) that might not be around by the end of the year.

I've got more concerns, which I detail HERE.

I've been holding out hope for the Allergy Amulet, a competing device that looks beautiful. But honestly, that company may never launch. I've never seen a company promise "next year it will be ready" so many times.

I didn't care for the Ecove GluTrust testers in its current iteration (but if it improves, there is hope!) or the Allis Sensor, which showed much promise but was nothing short of a scam.

Classic Guacamole ... With a Twist! 🥑🌶️

It's that time of year when we start thinking about graduation parties, backyard barbeques, and summer get-togethers.

And no summer gathering is complete without guacamole!

To spice up boring guac, I added roasted jalapenos and served it with the tangy and spicy Avocado Toast Chili Lime crackers from Crunchmaster.

Did you know that Crunchmaster has long supported the Celiac Disease Foundation and is a proud sponsor of Good For You Gluten Free? Thanks, Crunchmaster!

Stock Up on Canyon Bakehouse

A few weeks ago, I shared the wrong code for Canyon Bakehouse.

My mistake is your win, and I've got a NEW and IMPROVED code to share today.

The code GOODFORYOUGLUTENFREE will get you 25% off any order through 4/31/24.

This is a SWEET deal, so be sure to stock up. May I suggest the NEW Cinnamon-Raisin Bread? It smells and tastes incredible.

New Products

(1) Sweet Loren's has launched a new break-and-bake gluten-free lemon cookie dough. This product is seasonal, so get it while you can.

(2) Goodie Girl released its seasonal Lemon Sandwich cookies for a limited time.

(3) Franz Bakery expanded its gluten-free bread line-up to include sourdough, brioche, and rye-flavored bread. The new products are vegan and free from nuts, soy, dairy, egg, and high-fructose corn syrup.

(4) Justin's new peanut butter and peanut candy pieces are a better-for-you (and better-tasting) version of M&Ms made without artificial colors and ingredients. (I proudly included them in my April Love Me Gluten Free box.)

(5) BFree wraps got a glow-up. I think the new resealable packaging is beautiful. 💚 But it's what's inside that counts, and these wraps are de-li-cious!

It's National Pretzel Day 🥨

Today is National Pretzel Day, and I love a good gluten-free pretzel.

The pretzel brands I enjoy most include Savor by Suzie, FitJoy, Snyder's, Snack Factory, and Glutino.

I also sometimes make soft pretzels at home (pictured) - check out my RECIPE HERE.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

In honor of National Pretzel Day, I had to share this photo a reader sent me.

Sadly, the Katz soft pretzel nuggets look nothing like the picture on the box. I dare to say they look like turds, although they might be slightly overcooked. 🤷‍♀️

By the way, I love just about everything from Katz. This one, however, appears to be a miss.

Upcoming Events

The Wicked Gluten Free Expo will be in Long Island, NY on May 5th.

The Gluten Free Festival will be at Rocky Mountain Tap & Garden in Boulder, CO on May 5th. (I'll be there. If you're in Denver, come say hi.)

The Denver Celiacs Club is hosting a Gluten Free Farmer's Market in Denver on the first Saturday of every month from May to October 2024.

Please let me know if you hear about any gluten-free events near you!

Bring Him Home

It's been 202 unfathomable days since Omer Shem Tov, a young Israeli man with celiac disease, was unjustly taken. His crime? Being Jewish.

This is HIS STORY.

Hello Reader, Can I be real with you for a minute? There's been something that's been challenging me behind the scenes, and I want to share a bit about it with you, the Good For You Gluten Free community. Google has issued several algorithm updates over the past few months and exploded its AI reach, all of which work against independent creators like me. I won't get into the weeds of how Google is slowly killing my site, Good For You Gluten Free, but it hasn't been easy to watch 10 years of...

Hello Reader, This week was not only my birthday but also the 12th anniversary of my celiac disease diagnosis. I remember the day well. I was noshing on a Subway sandwich when my doctor called and delivered the bad news. I was diagnosed at the age of 35 and could never have predicted that the next 12 years of my life would be forever changed, mostly for the better but, at times, for the worse. It's a daily struggle that, while never easy, does get easier with time. In my article, 10 Lessons...
